If dealing with Asian characters, a specific Acrobat package must be installed and can be found on Adobe’s support download.
This install is required, even on an Asian computer.
The chosen font must contain the characters that are to be displayed. You can verify this step by checking the character map on your operating system: Windows, macOS, or Linux.
Some foreign characters may have a larger vertical size than English characters. If the characters need to be displayed in a table, the size of the cells must be set accordingly.
At the time of this writing, there is a known issue within Acrobat dealing with listboxes
