Smart Dimensions
 Measure an edge

APPEARS TO MEASURE THE ANGLE BETWEEN THE SELECTED AXIS AND A POINT ON A SURFACE - DON'T UNDERSTAND.

  1. Open the Smart Dimension menu on the 3D Document Toolbar. (How? Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the Smart Dimension icon. You should see a drop-down menu listing the available commands.)
  2. Select Smart Edge Dimension.
  3. Select an axis ?? or Normal.
    GLEN: I don't understand what the dialog box means by "Pick an edge to do an edge measurement from the context menu."
  4. Optional: Navigate to or enter a hyperlink to a file or a ???.
  5. Position your pointer over the edge whose ?? you want to measure. The edge is highlighted when the pointer is properly positioned.
  6. Click the highlighted line.
  7. Drag and click to position the label in the scene.

 

Note

If you want to add several of the same type of markup, you may select the Lock tool checkbox that appears when you select a markup command. This will allow you to keep adding the same type of markup to the scene until you click Stop.

 Measure a surface
  1. Open the Smart Dimension menu on the 3D Document Toolbar. (How? Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the Smart Dimension icon. You should see a drop-down menu listing the available commands.)
  2. Select Smart Surface Dimension.
  3. Select an axis ?? and select or clear the Flip Axis checkbox to ??.
    GLEN: I don't understand what the dialog box means by "Pick a surface to do a surface measurement from the context menu."
  4. Optional: Navigate to or enter a hyperlink to a file or a ???.
  5. Position your pointer over the surface whose ?? you want to measure. The surface is highlighted when the pointer is properly positioned.
  6. Click the highlighted surface.
  7. Drag and click to position the label in the scene.
