This page brings together all the changes that will be faced by an existing RedSDK partner wishing to adopt the new versions released under the HOOPS Luminate name.
There is no obligation to upgrade to HOOPS Luminate, the current license will still work. But you will need to upgrade to HOOPS Luminate if you want to benefit from all the fixes introduced after RedSDK 5.3, which will be the only product supported.
The list below covers most of the differences between the old and new licensing systems. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Our partners will need to use the Unified HOOPS licensing to use HOOPS Luminate.
The HOOPS key will give access to all platforms and modules.
This does not change the current entitlements on the platform your software is shipped on or which component you include in it.
HOOPS Luminate has been divided into one ZIP package per platform, so you can download the zip package you need. The new packages are 100% compatible with the old ones. All you need to do is update the folder location.
We currently do not have a package for Win32, as we are planning to stop the support for Win32 in the future.
All that is in the old package is still present, exception made for the Config Recommendation tool - used to check if a specific graphic card and driver was supported - which will be removed. This is an obsolete tool, which has been updated in years as now Windows takes care of driver compliance. The existing one from RedSDK 5.3 is still good if necessary.
For the first iteration, we are changing the package names and labels to HOOPS Luminate but keep the version consistent to the current system (i.e
5.4
). In a future release, we will move to2024.X
to be consistent with the HOOPS portfolio. There is a new location for the documentations ADD LINKS.
You can now use CMake to generate the project files to compile samples and demos. Older native project files are deprecated and will be replaced by CMake ones by 2025 TO BE DOCUMENTED.
QT has been upgraded from QT 4 to QT 5.
