The Importers page of the Options component lists version information for installed and available importers.

Importers are software modules that give SpinFire™ direct access to your native CAD files. To view a file in a certain format you will need to have the importer for that format installed. For a complete list of importers available from Actify, go to the SpinFire™ Formats page.

This page will indicate if new versions of the importers are available and provide links to download. You are entitled to product updates for the length of your maintenance period. To set how often SpinFire™ checks for updates, set "Check for Updates" on the Application Settings page.

The Importers page provides the following information for each installed importer:

Name

Importers are usually named after the CAD file format they import. For more information about an importer, click the icon to the left of the component name.

Whenever an update is available for an importer, this will be listed underneath the component name. For example, "(Build 650: Download 235 Kb)" where 235 Kb is the size of the update download. To update the importer, click Download. Once you have successfully updated the importer, the "Download" text will disappear, and the build number of the importer will be updated. You are entitled to importer updates for the length of your maintenance period. You can determine how often SpinFire™ checks for available updates from the Application Settings page of the Options component.

Build

This is the version number of the importer. Knowing the build number is important for technical support.

Status

If you have purchased the importer, the status will be "Active," indicating that you have full use of the importer. Otherwise, if you are in Reader mode or are not licensed to use the importer, the status will show as "Inactive".

Associate

Click to check this box to associate the specific importers file extensions to be associated to SpinFire. Double clicking on an associated native CAD file in the Windows Explorer automatically opens the file into a new session of SpinFire.

Options

The Options button opens up a dialog box which features settings for Filtering Options like Attribute, Type and Tessellation available for that importer. Each importer has different options available. Some common options associate file extensions with the importer, determine the default unit of measurement, set the precision of trimesh approximation, and select filters for entities associated with that file type.

After you have made desired changes in the dialog box, be sure to click the OK button located at the bottom of the dialog box.
