RedSDK is becoming HOOPS Luminate with the release of our HOOPS Suite 2024 release in December 2023. Significant changes with this release are highlighted here for our existing RedSDK partners attention.
Changes of Note
Upgrade to HOOPS Luminate
There is no obligation to upgrade to HOOPS Luminate. Your current license will continue working. If you desire the benefit of bugs resolved after RedSDK 5.3, you are encouraged to upgrade to HOOPS Luminate. Additionally, HOOPS Luminate becomes the officially supported release version.
HOOPS Licensing
HOOPS Luminate introduces the following changes to licensing. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
HOOPS Luminate requires a HOOPS license available from the https://developer.techsoft3d.com/start, if you don’t have it already. You may need to register a new account for Access to the NEW Developer Zone.
The license key provides access to all platforms and modules.
The key supports your current entitlements and components on your shipping platform(s).
HOOPS Luminate Packages
The Developer Zone provides one HOOPS Luminate package (i.e. zip archive) per platform. Download the package(s) of interest. The new packages are 100% compatible with the old ones. Extract the package into the appropriate location.
The package for Win32 is not available as this platform will be deprecated soon. If you require this package, please contact us.
The contents of the HOOPS Luminate package remains consistent with RedSDK. However, the Config Recommendation tool to check support for a specific graphic card and driver has been removed. This tool is largely obsolete with Windows driver compliance. Use the RedSDK 5.3 version of the tool, if necessary.
The initial release of HOOPS Luminate will be version
5.4
in keeping with the RedSDK version numbering. In a subsequent release, the version will move to a HOOP Suite numbering.
