titleMeasure an edge

APPEARS TO MEASURE THE ANGLE BETWEEN THE SELECTED AXIS AND A POINT ON A SURFACE - DON'T UNDERSTAND.

  1. Open the Smart Dimension menu on the 3D Document Toolbar. (How? Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the Smart Dimension icon. You should see a drop-down menu listing the available commands.)Image Added
  2. Select Smart Edge Dimension.
  3. Select an axis ?? or Normal.
GLEN: I don't understand what the dialog box means by "Pick an edge to do an edge measurement from the context menu." So Smart Dimensioning basically allows the user to free float their mouse over their model(s) and when something highlights the system gives the user a choice of different measurements they can do for that particular type of object (edge, surface, or point).
So to do this a user first must decide on which edge they want to perform an operation
Next the user can left mouse click on the highlighted edge they're hovering over to perform the default action or can right mouse click to get the context menu to choose one of the measurements they can perform on the edge.
  4. Optional: Navigate to or enter a hyperlink to a file or a ???.
  5. Position your pointer over the edge whose ?? you want to measure. The edge is highlighted when the pointer is properly positioned.
  6. Click the highlighted line.Image Added
  7. Mouse over and select a highlighted edge.
  8. Optional:
    1. Select Lock tool to use the command more than once.
    2. Enter a hyperlink to a file or to a document and user view within the current file.
  9. Position your cursor on an edge. (Selectable edges are highlighted when you mouse over them.)
    1. Double-click the left mouse button to measure the edge length (default).
    2. Click the right mouse button to bring up a context menu containing additional measurement options, then make your selection.

Right-click a dimension markup to make changes to its properties. A context menu will appear and provide command options that are based on the selected markup type. For example, a point coordinates Point Coordinates markup context menu will differ slightly from an Arc Center to Arc Center markup context menu. (See the Markup Context MenuWorking with 3D Markups for details.)
