titleMeasure an edge

APPEARS TO MEASURE THE ANGLE BETWEEN THE SELECTED AXIS AND A POINT ON A SURFACE - DON'T UNDERSTAND.

  1. Open the Smart Dimension menu on the 3D Document Toolbar. (How? Click the drop-down arrow to the right of the Smart Dimension icon. You should see a drop-down menu listing the available commands.)Image Added
  2. Select Smart Edge Dimension.
  3. Select an axis ?? or Normal.
    GLEN: I don't understand what the dialog box means by "Pick an edge to do an edge measurement from the context menu."

  6. Optional:
    1. Select Lock tool to use the command more than once.
    2. Enter a hyperlink to a file or

    1. Double-click the left mouse button to measure the edge length (default).
    2. Click the right mouse button to bring up a context menu containing additional measurement options, then make your selection.

If you want to add several of the same type of markup, you may select the Lock tool checkbox that appears when you select a markup command. This will allow you to keep adding the same type of markup to the scene until you click Stop.

Markup labels (with the exception of a 2D Note) rotate along with your view of the model. This can result in the label appearing behind the model. You can prevent this with the Stay on Top setting.

Follow this same procedure to disable the Stay on Top setting.

  6. Select the background color for the label and click OK.

Examples of valid link paths include:

To link to a user view, type the pound sign (#) followed by the name of the saved view.

To link to another document within the .3D file, surround the name of the document with square brackets [ ]. For example, typing [Wheel] would open the Wheel document.

If you would like to link a user view within a 3D document, add the pound sign # followed by the viewname. For example, typing [Wheel]#view2 would open the Wheel document and display the view named view2.

SpinFire 11.0 will append the http:// protocol header to any relative link. Therefore, links to files must use an absolute path.

To add or edit a description

  2. Click Properties.This opens the markup Properties dialog box.

  4. Click OK.The description will appear on the label beneath the original measurement or note.

To add or edit a comment

  2. Click Properties.This opens the markup Properties dialog box.
  3. Click in the Comments box and type your comment.
  4. Click OK. A mark will appear in the lower-right corner of the label, indicating the presence of a comment.

The context menu contains functions based on the selected markup type. The Smart Edge Dimension context menu differs slightly from Smart Surface Dimension markup context menu. 

You will not see the Hide/Show Arc Center Point Coordinates function on the Smart Surface Dimension context menu.

Right-click a dimension markup to make changes to its properties. A context menu will appear and provide command options that are based on the selected markup type.
