Point
A 3D design is built from lines, triangles, and other polygons. Vertex points are the points of intersection between these figures Points generally indicate intersections between the elements that underlie the 3D design. When you choose a command that requires you to select a vertex point, the pointer appears as an arrow with a small "x" at the tip when over the Viewport. Red dots designate available vertices points on the model. (If you do not see the red dots, you may want to go to the 3D Viewer Options page of the Options component Settings page and select the Vertices visible on picking check box.) A cross-hatch indicates when the pointer is properly positioned over a vertex point. A yellow dot indicates that you have successfully selected a vertex point.

Arc
Some 3D Markup Dimension commands, such as Edge Length and Arc Diameter, require you to select an edge or arc that already exists on the model. When the pointer is properly positioned over an edge or arc, a line or circle highlight will appear.

You can also choose to measure the distance between two points with respect to the X-, Y-, or Z-axis by selecting "Along X", "Along Y", or "Along Z". Or you can change an existing Vertex to Vertex Distance to measure the distance between the two points with respect to the X-, Y-, or Z-axis by selecting the appropriate choice from the right-click menu. Image Removed Circle by Three Vertices - Draws a circle that passes through three selected vertex points on the model and measures the circle's diameter. This command draws a visible diameter that passes through the first point you select. The label also lists the X, Y, and Z coordinates of the circle's center point. You can also choose to show only the arc that runs through the three points by selecting Draw Arc from the right-click menu. How... Anchor |

Image Removed Three Vertices Angle - Measures an angle defined by two segments with a common vertex. You will pick the first point of the first segment, the vertex point, and finally the endpoint of the second segment. It is important to remember that the second point you select will be the vertex of the angle. Flip this angle's measurement by selecting the Flip Axis command from the right-click menu. How...
