PMI annotation planes are indicated by a dashed border. You may turn the visibility of this border on or off.
Hide or Show an Annotation Plane Border
- In the WorkSpace components, click Annotations.This opens the Annotations pane.
- To control the visibility of all the planes, click the check box beside Annotation Planes.
- To control the visibility of an individual annotation plane, try clicking the check box next to an Annotation Planeentry until the desired plane is found.

To Hide or Show All PMI:
- In the 3D Document Toolbar, open the Display menu
- Click PMI Annotations.
To Hide or Show Individual PMI Annotations:
- In the WorkSpace component, select the Annotations or Assembly pane.If you don't see an annotation in the pane you may need to expand the part or surface object associated with the annotation.
- Select or clear the check box next to the annotation listing.
Note
• You can also hide an annotation by right-clicking it in the 3D scene and clicking Hide.

highlight a surface or part associated with a PMI annotation
Selecting a PMI annotation in a 3D document will highlight its associated surface on the geometry. If no surface is associated with an annotation, then the part will be highlighted.
To highlight a surface or part associated with a PMI annotation:
- Click the annotation's listing in the Annotations or Assembly pane.This highlights the selected annotation, the associated surface or part, as well as any associated annotations.
Note
• You may also select an annotation by right-clicking it in the 3D scene.
• If the PMI is a "scene" annotation, then no surface or part will be highlighted.

The View by Plane command positions your view to better read the annotations on an annotation plane.
To position the view to better read an annotation plane:
- Right-click an annotationThis may be done either in the Annotations pane, the Assembly pane, or the 3D scene.
- Click View by Plane.The view is re-positioned to better read the annotation plane associated with that annotation.

• You may also right-click an Annotation Plane listing in the Annotations pane and click View by Plane.

Turn on/off Auto-Fading for PMI annotations
The Angle-Fading feature fades the annotations on a plane as the plane gets close to being perpendicular to the screen.
By default this setting is turned on, but it may be turned off by changing a setting in the Windows Registry. Angle-fading for annotation and for annotation plane can be set separately.
Warning: Be careful when changing the Registry. Modifying the wrong Registry key may seriously harm your computer's performance. Only perform this operation if you are comfortable using the Registry Editor.
To turn on/off Auto-Fading:
- Open the Windows Registry EditorGo to Start > Run and type regedit
- Select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Actify/InstallApps/SpinFire Reader/General Options
- To change fading for annotations, right-click the PMI Annotations AngleFading value and click Modify.
- To turn OFF Angle-Fading, change the value data to 0; to turn ON Angle-Fading change the value data to 1.
- To change fading for annotation planes, right-click the PMI AnnotationPlanes AngleFading value and clickModify.
- To turn OFF Angle-Fading, change the value data to 0; to turn ON Angle-Fading change the value data to 1.
